Tymon Smektala, the lead designer of Dying Light 2, shared insights on the significant effort it took to reintegrate firearms into the game's universe without disrupting its carefully constructed world. He emphasized that the inclusion of guns was not an arbitrary decision but one that was thoroughly contemplated, promising that their reintroduction would be accompanied by a narrative justification.

However, with the introduction of firearms and other enhancements, Techland has announced a delay in the release of previously promised features such as Tower Raids and Nightmare Mode. These features have now been prioritized for future updates.
