Apple's latest update brings new intelligence features to support iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices with the developer beta release. From Monday, iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 developer beta users can access features such as contextual awareness in Siri, automatic movie creation in the Photos app, new writing tools, and more. One notable addition to the Safari browser is the AI-powered Summarise feature, which provides short summaries of web pages and articles.

The new Apple Intelligence features have been detailed in the company's release notes, noting the inclusion of the AI-powered Summarise feature. An early preview of this feature was first identified by 9to5Mac. According to the publication, the Summarise feature can be accessed within Safari's Reader mode.

When using Reader mode in Safari, users can locate a Summarise button at the top of the page, marked by the new Apple Intelligence logo. Upon pressing the button, an animation scans the page's contents, showing a purple Apple Intelligence glow. This scanning process takes only a few seconds before generating a summary.

The publication observed this feature on the iPhone 15 Pro, the M4-powered iPad Pro, and the MacBook Air with the M1 chipset. On the iPhone, the summary appears at the top of the page, while on the iPad and Mac, it is displayed in a sidebar. Gadgets 360, however, has not yet verified the feature.

Besides Summarise, the iOS 18.1 developer beta update showcased additional Apple Intelligence features. Siri's capabilities now include contextual awareness, allowing it to handle queries and perform tasks even when asked in vague terms. Siri's user interface also gets an update.

In the Photos app, a new AI feature enables automatic movie creation using the Memory Movie option, which operates with text prompts for user customization. Writing Tools have also been introduced, allowing users to proofread text for spelling and grammar across several first-party apps and even rewrite text in various tonalities.
