After a few matches in Star Wars: Hunters, you will have a roster of prospective Hunters lining up to be tried out. With 12 characters available at launch (13 if you have the Arena Pass), you may wonder who the best Star Wars: Hunters character is. That's where this guide comes in. Below, we have grouped every character by their Class, listed their abilities, and provided a brief description of each. We have also ranked them in our totally subjective tier list and added our recommendation for which ones we like to take into the Arena. Let's see who's on offer...
Star Wars: Hunters Classes Overview
In Star Wars: Hunters, characters are divided into three primary classes: Damage, Tank, and Support. Each class offers unique advantages and disadvantages, and a well-rounded team will include one or more Hunters from each category.
Damage Class
The Damage class is all about offense. These Hunters are designed to deal high amounts of damage quickly, often at the expense of their own durability. When it comes to aggressive gameplay, these characters are typically on the front lines, engaging directly with opponents and aiming to take them out as swiftly as possible.
Featured Damage Hunter: Imara Vex
It might be one of the more popular choices, but Imara Vex gets our vote as the best Damage Hunter. Her mid-range weaponry makes her a strong choice for taking out opponents on the move, and her Seeker Salve Ultimate can be devastating if the enemy team is grouped in one spot.
Tank Class
The Tank class is characterized by its resilience. These Hunters can absorb a large amount of damage, making them ideal for leading the charge or holding strategic points. Typically, they are slower but compensate with their ability to withstand sustained enemy fire.
Featured Tank Hunter: Charr
This one depends on your playstyle. If you want to be right in the middle of the action, Charr, with his shotgun and crowd-controlling abilities, is an excellent choice. On the other hand, if your strategy involves supporting your teammates from a safer distance, Sentinel is your go-to for rapid and powerful attacks.
Support Class
Support characters play a vital role in the team's overall success. Their primary function is to keep teammates alive and well during the match. These Hunters typically avoid direct confrontations but provide essential healing and buffs from a safe distance.
Featured Support Hunter: Skora
Each Support character has its pros, but Skora stands out as the best. Her small size and quick movements make her a difficult target, and her Ultimate ability is extremely useful when the fight is concentrated in one area.
Unlocking Star Wars: Hunters Characters
There are two main ways to unlock new Hunters in the game:
1. Hunter's Path: Access the Hunter's Path via the top left corner of the home menu. Play matches to collect Hunter Tokens and unlock characters in tiered order: Imara Vex, Sentinel, Grozz, Zaina, Diago, Skora, J-3DI, Charr, Rieve, Sprocket, Utooni, and Slingshot.
2. Crystals: You can also unlock Hunters immediately by spending Crystals. Each character costs 1,000 Crystals, and the price reduces if you are already in the process of unlocking them via the Hunter's Path.
For those with an Arena Pass, certain exclusive Hunters, like Aran Tal, become available. These are not accessible without the Pass.
Leveling-Up Your Star Wars: Hunters Characters
Improving your Hunters is straightforward:
1. Playing Matches: Your chosen Hunter gains Fame in every match, contributing to their next level. Upgrading can reward you with new abilities or cosmetic upgrades.
2. Fame Grants: Completing specific Quests earns you Fame Grants, which can be applied to any Hunter you choose, expediting their level-up process.
