Fortnite, the most popular battle royale shooter for PC and consoles. Today Fortnite free download is finally available for most Android devices. You can get it not only for flagship Android devices but for any smartphone and tablet that has appropriate hardware and OS version. However, the installation remains a tricky process because of numerous malicious Fortnite installers on the web. Following the guide below, you can easily avoid being caught by fraudulent developers, so study it before downloading the game.
Before you start downloading, check if your device meets the system requirements suggested by Epic Games. Your device has to run at least Android 8.0 or a higher 64-bit version; it must have at least 3GB of RAM and a compatible graphics processor. The lowest processors that support it are Adreno 530, Mali-G71 MP20, and Mali-G72 MP12. The higher version you have, the better performance you achieve.
Safe Download Steps
Unlike the majority of other games, Fortnite isn’t available on Google Play because Epic Games decided to bypass the marketplace to avoid service commissions. As a result, the installation process is a bit unusual.
To download Fortnite for your device, you have to get it on the official Fortnite.com website. Unfortunately, it’s impossible without allowing the installation of apps downloaded from unidentified sources. You have to change security settings, which makes your Android less secure, but we know how to avoid problems.
Launch your favorite web browser and enter Fortnite.com in the address bar. When you get to the site, tap Play Free Now. The website will offer you to choose the preferred downloading location. Choose the needed one and tap download in the pop-up window with Fortniteinstaller-(version number).apk. Android will warn you that this file is potentially harmful, but there’s nothing to worry about if you get it on Fortnite.com.
Downloading the installer won’t take long as it doesn’t contain the full game. It’s only an access bundle to the full downloading. When it’s finished, open Downloads and try to launch the APK. The system will notify you that you’re not allowed to install this app and offer you to open Settings. Follow to the Settings menu and turn on the “Allow from this source” knob. Now go back to the installation and simply tap Install, then Open.
The system will ask you to permit the installer to access game storage. Tap continue to allow. Next, tap Allow to let the installer access photos, media, and files. Now you can tap Launch to start downloading the game itself. The game file requires approximately 2GB of storage.
Get Security Back
Now it’s time to fix the security hole that you’ve opened for the installer. Go to Biometrics and Security (this option can be named differently, depending on the manufacturer of your device). Find the Install Unknown Apps setting and look for your file browser in the list of apps in this section. Tap the file browser icon and turn off the “Allow from this source” knob in the new window.
Ready to Smash!
Now that your device is secure, you can launch the Epic Games Fortnite Android app and enjoy top-notch battle royale gameplay on your smartphone or tablet. You can use your Epic Games account to sign in or create a new one directly from the app. This will let you sync progress and purchase items.
